Java’s flagship day train links the capital and the sultan’s city in six hours, skirting volcanoes beyond Cirebon and Purwokerto.
Named after a serpent king of Javanese legend, the Taksaka has been KAI’s premier Jakarta–Yogyakarta day train since 1999 and now runs with stainless-steel New Generation stock. It clears the Cirebon coastal plain, curls through the Serayu valley beneath Slamet volcano, then skirts the Menoreh hills into the sultan’s city in just over six hours. Panoramic-window coaches join selected departures.
