Threads the Puster Valley beneath the Dolomites from the Brenner line at Fortezza past Bruneck and the Three Peaks, crossing into Austria at Innichen to run on to Lienz in East Tyrol.
The Puster Valley line of 1871 links the Brenner mainline at Fortezza with the Drava valley of East Tyrol, running east under the Dolomites for its whole length. It passes Bruneck, the gateway to the Kronplatz, and the resort villages below the Three Peaks of Lavaredo before crossing the watershed and the Italian–Austrian border at Innichen/San Candido, then following the young Drava down to Lienz. Modern Stadler Flirt railcars have made it a busy regional artery through the mountains.
