Belmond’s navy-and-gold Pullman to Machu Picchu, with brunch, a pisco bar and citadel entry folded into the fare since 2003.
Named for the explorer who brought Machu Picchu to the world’s attention in 1911, Belmond’s navy-and-gold Pullman train has been the grand way down the Urubamba since 2003. Brunch is served as the cars drop off the Anta plateau into the Sacred Valley, and a live band holds court in the open-balcony observation car. The fare bundles the shuttle bus to the citadel, the entrance ticket and afternoon tea at the Sanctuary Lodge beside the ruins.
Along the way
- Anta plain villages
- Pomatales gorge descent
- Ollantaytambo fortress
- Urubamba rapids at km 82
- Cloud-forest arrival below the citadel
